Paint your hairpins with nail polish! You know when you used them so often the black paint peeled off, so it needs a fresh coat! Or give it a funky new colour! hahahaha =))) maybe I should go get some cheapo glittery nail polish so I’ll have me some sparkly hairpins too! <3

DIY of the Day: Framing pictures is for olds. All the cool kids are copying their pictures directly onto blocks of wood.

Crystal Shea says:

Make sure to use copy paper and a laser print copy- it works best this way. Also, to those who are having issues getting all the paper residue off, here’s a tip: get as much paper as you can off, then wet the image with water again so the paper is no longer visible, then apply the mod podge before it’s dry. I found this helps for me.

DIY Rock Candy by bhs-web I love the way the candy colors are so vivid. To make this wildly beautiful treat try this tutorial out. Hopefully, I give this a shot in the weekend when I’m not busy with school.
Rock candy - 4 cups granulated sugar - 1 cup water - Food coloring - Clean glass jar - String, cut into 6-inch lengths - Pencil
1) In a medium saucepan, heat 2 cups of the sugar and the water.Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
2) Gradually add a few drops of the food coloring of your choice and the additional sugar, stirring continuously until all the sugar is dissolved.
3) Pour the mixture into a clean glass jar and tie the pieces of string to the pencil and suspend them across the mouth of the jar so that the ends hang into the sugar water.
4)Crystals suitable to eat will form in an hour and continue for several days to a week. Pieces can be broken off and eaten after the first hour. 5) ENJOY!!

I remember doing this as a kid and loving it!

CD Jewel Case Frames | Sunset
If you’re like me, your CD cases are currently chucked in a big box because you’ve ripped all your CDs to your computer or… don’t actually buy CDs anymore! I’ve seen some great CD case DIYs out there, including one from Martha that was a calendar for your desk (the case creates it’s own stand when you turn it around). This is such a great idea, especially for those of you looking for art on the cheap. Great for those of us who change our minds a lot!

It’s been a while since we’ve featured some of Kathleen’s work on SMP. For those of you that don’t know…Kathleen is our DIY guru and has been providing the coolest projects made especially for our readers for the past few months. We first fell in love with her when she entered our DIY contest way back when, but have since fallen more and more head over heels as we see what she can really do.
So today, we are sharing some completley adorable DIY favor boxes. If you missed the first two boxes, click here and here.

The best thing about this set is that they are total perfection standing alone or mixed and matched! And, you know how I feel about yellow. They are just adorable.
To download the pink polka dots, click right here. To download the yellow stripes, click right here. To download the pink flowers, click right here. To download the yellow waves, click right here.
All you have to do, is print the template onto an 8.5×11” piece of card stock (80 lb) with a color printer. Score along dotted lines with a bone folder and a ruler. With an x-acto knife and ruler, cut along solid lines. Fold box together and tape shut with double-sided tape where indicated.
